A Life Line for Ciaran Lotz
Two years ago our friend, husband and father Ciaran Lotz was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer with metastasis to the Lymph nodes and hip bones. Since then the cancer has advanced aggressively and treatments available here in Ireland are no longer helping. We are raising money to send Ciaran for life saving treatment at the Williams Cancer Institute in Mexico. We have no time to loose and we need your help to raise €140,000 over the next few weeks.
Ciaran is a 45 year old husband and father of three children who in 2019 was a fit young man leading a busy and fulfilling life. He worked full time as well as being energetic and active, doing triathlons and living a healthy productive life. More than this he is a dedicated and caring father of three children, Jonah, Milly and Saul and a loving and supportive husband of Fiona. He has always had enough energy and kindness to help and support his whole family as well as his friends. We his friends and family are now coming together to give a life line to Ciaran who has always given so much to others. Time is running out and we need your help.
Ciaran’s cancer is a particularly aggressive form which has now spread to his spine, skull and liver. The journey has been a difficult one, draining both physically and mentally. Since his diagnosis Ciaran has fought bravely and has always kept positive with the help and support of his family. He has been through a number of different treatments - some working for a while but most of them only having a short term impact as the disease is really good at adapting. The last hope for Ciaran is a ground breaking medical treatment being pioneered by the Williams Cancer Institute. This treatment itself attacks the tumours while at the same time creating an auto-immune response which teaches the body to fight and defeat the disease. The treatment is not yet available in Europe and the most cost effective location to receive treatment is in Mexico City.
The first round of treatment will cost $119,000 with additional costs of approximately $40,000 for general hospital fees for the four week long treatment. The treatment will then be continued in Ireland on Ciaran’s return which will come at additional costs. This is a huge amount of money to raise but we his family and friends who know Ciaran and know how much he has given to others over the years will do everything in our power to save him. We believe we can do it with your help. Please donate whatever you can afford, no matter how big or small to give a life line to this young vibrant man who means so much to his children, wife, family and community and who has still so much to give.
About Ciaran
Ciaran was born in South Africa where he lived with his mother who was Irish - he always had strong links and family connections to Ireland. Ciaran’s mother passed away in 2001 when he was 25 years old. He then moved from South Africa to Ireland to connect with his Irish family in Co. Kildare. Ciaran lived in Leixlip, Co Kildare for 10 years, where he met his now wife Fiona Burke. Ciaran was an active member of the Leixlip community and in particular Barnhall Rugby Club. In 2009 Ciaran and Fiona moved to Oulart, in Co Wexford to raise their three children Jonah, Milly and Saul. Within a short time Ciaran was well known in the area and he and his family have become a part of this small rural community. Among other activities Ciaran has been coaching kids Rugby in the local Enniscorthy club. Over the years Ciaran has always been there to support his friends, community and charitable causes often running fundraisers for the Cancer Society and various Children’s Hospitals.
