A Life Forever Changed By Cancer

She is only 31 years old.

She was starting to plan a family.

Her career is finally thriving.

She finally found her "person" and fell completely in love. In fact, they are getting married.

She is my little sister.

...and she was diagnosed with cancer.

It all started with a routine physical and the discovery of a heart murmur. Further testing and imaging revealed a 4-inch mass in Courtney's chest cavity. After several diagnostic tests, too many needle sticks and blood samples to count, and numerous hours of waiting for the unknown, the official diagnosis came: primal mediastinal large b cell lymphoma. Cancer.

Aggressive cancer, too.

Since her diagnosis, it has been a whirlwind of emotions for everyone, especially for Courtney and her new fiance, Parker. They have been steadfast and resolved through this whole ordeal and are determined to "find a way".

So am I.

Let's take the burden of finances out of the way for these two amazing people. I want my sister to focus on her treatment, recovery, and emotional well-being and not how she will pay for all of the medical bills coming her way with the pending loss of income. She DOES have insurance but still has thousands of dollars in out-of-pocket expenses. She is going to try and extract some eggs for future babies before she starts treatment, too, so that she can hopefully hold a baby of her own when this is all said and done.

And it will be done. I have faith, and I have hope. Courtney WILL beat this. If you know Courtney, you know that I'm not hasty with my choice of words.
