Cath’s Story
In September 2025, our dear friend Catherine Fear suffered a devastating accident while doing what she loves most — working with her horses. Cath had a fall which has left her paralysed from the hips down, aged just 27.
For the last eleven years, since she was 16, Cath has worked on a busy event yard, as an incredible groom, producing many young horses and ponies and eventing herself to 2-star.
After spending many months in hospital learning how to be as independent as possible Cath is now back on the yard most days helping out with the horses and general day to day running of the yard. She is attending physio several times a week and awaiting arrival of a motorised wheelchair and hopefully soon a specially adapted car. Cath remains cheerful and positive doing whatever she can to improve her chances of recovery.
My name is Sandra Wharton I am 67 years old and before her accident Cath helped me to look after my horse for about 5 years. On the 26th April I will be riding the Etape Loch Ness which is Scotland’s largest and most iconic 106km closed road cycle sportive taking place around Loch. Finishing in the Highland capital of Inverness with 900m of ascent. I would like to take this opportunity to raise funds to help support Cath as she navigates this next chapter of her life. Please donate if possible to help Cath.. Thank you
