His dream of attending university burned brightly within him, an aspiration hindered by the social constraints of the era. Yet, he defied those limitations. In a remarkable testament to resilience and unwavering belief, my father pursued higher education, realizing his dream in his 60s when he graduated from Galway University (NUIG) with a degree. To say I am immensely proud of my father is an understatement.
