Dear neighbors,
I’m reaching out to ask for your support for two remarkable women who have been the heart of our community for over two decades.
Ms. Lesie Brooks has been a constant source of kindness and safety for our children as they navigate the busy intersection at Oakview and East Lake. For the past five years, she’s dedicated herself to ensuring our kids cross safely, rain or shine. But her family's dedication to our neighborhood runs even deeper.
Her mother, Ms. Ernestine Brooks, was also a beloved crossing guard for 17 years at F.AVE. She loved her role so much that, even now, as she battles dementia and faces end-of-life challenges on hospice care, she accompanies Lesie every day. Ernestine sits in the car, watching the children, because seeing them brings her joy and comfort. These two incredible women have cared for our children longer than many of us have been in the neighborhood.
Now, it’s our turn to show them how much they mean to us. Let’s come together as a community to support Lesie and Ernestine during this challenging time. Whether through meals, donations, or simply words of encouragement, every little bit helps.
These women have been pillars of love and care in our community. Let’s rally around them the way they’ve always been there for us and our children!
