On Saturday 25th October, one of our men’s teams were playing a league match against Montpellier Reserves. During this match one of our players, Josh Swales, unfortunately suffered a triple leg fracture during a horrific tackle. The match was abandoned and Josh was rushed to hospital. In hospital Josh was put into a cast and transferred to Gloucester Royal Hospital. On Monday 27th October, Josh had surgery to insert a metal rod and 4 screws into his leg. On Thursday 30th October, Josh was discharged with crutches to continue recovery from home. He was told he would be unable to put full weight through the leg for at least 6 weeks, be off work for 8-12 weeks and out of any exercise for 4-6 months.
Josh has 7 year old twins to provide for and still has normal bills to pay, as well as Christmas around the corner. As a stressful time for anyone, this is why we’re asking for any help so he can continue to provide for his family. Josh is self employed and therefore will not earn an income whilst off work, so any help will be greatly appreciated.
As a football club, we’re doing all we can to help and support Josh but we’d like to ask anyone else to help out in any way that they can, whilst under no obligation.
We wish Josh the best of recoveries and hope to see him back on the pitch.
