Leap for the Future: Strengthening the Rathnew Boxing Club

Hello everyone

My name is Kyle O’Connor, I’m 27 years old, and I’m proud to be part of this incredible community. Over the past few years, I’ve witnessed firsthand the strength and resilience of our local services and the dedicated individuals behind them. One group that has especially inspired me is the Rathnew Boxing Club.

During one of the most challenging times in recent memory, I worked as a healthcare assistant, not for recognition, but because I couldn’t stand by while our community needed help. I saw the best of people when things were at their worst. But I also saw something else, how easy it is for the needs of our youth, especially in sports, to be overlooked.

Boxing has always been a passion of mine. It’s more than just a sport, it teaches discipline, confidence, and perseverance. That’s why I believe so strongly in the importance of the Rathnew Boxing Club. It’s not just a place to train, it’s a safe haven, a support system, and a launchpad for young people with big dreams.

To support this cause, I’m taking a leap, literally. I’ll be doing a skydive to raise funds for the club, aiming to collect €1000 to invest in better facilities and essential equipment. Every euro raised will help ensure that Rathnew Boxing Club continues to provide a safe, supportive space for future champions, whether in the ring or in life.

We plan to use the funds for vital gear like gloves, headgear, punching bags, speed bags, mats, and jump ropes. Just as importantly, your support will help cover clubhouse rent, ensuring the club stays open and accessible to all who need it.

Back in October, I organized a pub quiz with spot prizes that brought our community together and raised much needed funds. This skydive is the next big step, and I want you to be part of it.
