A Laptop: My Portal to the World

Growing up as a foster child, I’ve always felt like I was a step behind when it came to having my own things. Most of the time, I had to make do with hand-me-downs or go without entirely. Now, as an adult, I still find myself limited—my mother is very protective and doesn’t allow me to make friends without her meeting them first, which makes it hard to connect with others and build my own community. Living with Loeys-Dietz syndrome adds another layer of challenge, as I spend most of my time at home, staring at the same four walls, with little hope of that changing soon.

That’s why I’m reaching out for help to get a gaming laptop. Having my own device would mean so much more than just playing games—it would give me a way to connect with people online, explore new interests, and maybe even start developing my own games. It would also be a lifeline for entertainment, letting me watch TV or revisit old favorites when I need a break from reality. In a way, a laptop would be like a fifth wall in my room—a portal to the world beyond, offering hope and connection when I need it most.

Please consider my selfish request. I promise to treasure my laptop and make the most of every opportunity it brings. Your support, whether through a donation or simply sharing my story, would mean the world to me.
