Hi, my name is Amanda, and I’m a single mom doing my best to care for my 5-year-old daughter, Aurora, and our two beloved dogs, Hazel and Belle.
Recently, our sweet teacup chihuahua Hazel was hit by a car in a heartbreaking accident. She’s been part of our little family since 2017 . Hazel is Aurora’s best friend and my constant companion through years of parenting, heartbreak, healing, and change and it is a miracle she survived this.
Hazel suffered very serious injuries and needed surgery to stay alive. The cost was around $8,000, which is overwhelming, especially since we just moved into a new home and are working to rebuild some stability. Some people told me I should let her go because of her age and the cost — but I just couldn’t. The surgeons assured me she would have a full, healthy life ahead of her and although I was cautioned against it, I just had to try.
A few years ago, while driving to pick up the keys to my previous home with a car full of items, I saw a dog get hit by a car. I didn’t know her or who she belonged to — I just quickly pulled over, wrapped her in my favorite blanket, and rushed her to the emergency vet.
Now, three years later, life came full circle. As we were moving into another new home, Hazel ran off and was hit by a car. But this time, someone pulled over, wrapped her up and rushed her to the emergency vet. The only reason I found her is because the woman posted a "Found Dog" post on nextdoor and one of my new neighbors kindly forwarded her post to me.
This kindness was God working in beautiful, quiet ways like he does— reminding me that we’re not alone, even in chaos, and that acts of kindness are returned to us.
I’m working full time, raising Aurora on my own, and preparing to handle Hazel’s 9-week recovery myself. But I can't do this without help....
If you’re able to donate — anything — it will go directly toward Hazel’s surgery and rehabilitation. I don't dream ill raise the full amount due but truly, anything helps us. If you can’t give, sharing this page would still mean the world. I love my family so much and will do anything I can to protect and care for us.
Thank you for even reading this, for caring, and for being part of our story — even from afar. ❤️
With gratitude,
Amanda , Aurora, Hazel, and Belle
