Good morning, I'm Gian Michele Gancia, a rotarian of the Rotary Club Genoa South East and a Past Governor of the District 2032 of the Rotary International.

I'm trying to organize a fundraiser for the Italy-Palestine Inter-Country Committee, of which I'm the Chair.

This fundraiser will enable it to collaborate with the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem on reopening a kindergarten in Gaza.

Heeding the call from the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem to "Rebuild life in Gaza through education" offers each of us a pivotal opportunity to transform hope into tangible action, heal a war-torn territory and restore a future of peace to families.

Through the project "A kindergarten to restore hope to Gaza" the Rotary Italy-Palestine Inter-Country Committee aims to contribute supporting and promoting the reopening of a kindergarten for 150 children. This initiative is being advanced also via the Italian Chapter of the Rotary Action Group for Peace (RAGFP), with the goal of raising awareness and garnering support among Rotary Clubs in Zone 15 (Italy, Malta, and San Marino) and across the Mediterranean. This aligns with the fact that supporting education and providing clean water are two of Rotary’s seven areas of focus specifically dedicated to youth.

Indeed, ensuring access to clean water and quality education breaks the cycle of poverty and fosters a vital link between safe schools, healthy learning environments, human capital development, gender equality, and awareness regarding the management of local resources.

Through a 12-month Global Grant with a budget of approximately USD 50,000 (fifty thousand), The Rotary Foundation can play a crucial role aimed at contributing to:

- optimizing the kindergarten’s water system;

- providing the educational resources necessary for quality learning:

consumable goods: stationery, art supplies, various types of paper, and

manipulative learning materials;

durable goods: wooden toys, psychomotor development equipment,

- launching a school bus service to ensure safe access to the kindergarten.
