A Kidney for Jake: Keep Dad Close

Donation protected
As most of you know, Jake is needing a kidney. The post I made had 198 shares, so I'm hopeful this will go far and wide.

Jake is 34, and he has a daughter (12). Jake moved back to be with Marley a few years ago, and shortly after, he was told he was in kidney failure. He did all the right things, got a house, had a steady job that he loved, and was able to attend all the things for our daughter. It seemed like the days of freedom were short-lived when he ended up in the hospital with zero kidney function left, only to now be dependent on dialysis every day for several hours in order to live, what some still wouldn't call a normal life.

He has had to put his job on hold because, between the doctor's appointments, dialysis, and tests, he barely has time to be a dad or even be able to enjoy day-to-day life. His angel of a mom, Carol, is really the only support he has, aside from a few friends and family that help when they can. But Carol lives miles away, so traveling can be expensive on top of helping as much as possible so that Jake can remain close to Marley!

Jake has applied for everything available to help, and he nor his mom would ever ask for handouts, but what breaks my heart is that disability isn't even enough to cover his house payment. Between all the things he has to do or be at before receiving a new kidney, there is no time for a job, which I know he hates!

When you watch people go through hardships, you pray, send good thoughts, or like the post, but when it's closer to home, it really feels like the light is burning out and nowhere in sight. 34 isn't even half a lifetime; 12 years isn't enough time with your dad, especially when you're "daddy's little girl." I'm setting this up to help take the burden off of Carol and to relieve some of the stress Jake feels when another bill comes due. I know it doesn't solve all of the problems, but even if it helps for a few months, that's more than we could ever ask for!! We thank anyone who takes the time to donate, read, or share. Someday, that 12-year-old little girl will be old enough to understand and be thankful for all of those who helped her daddy!
