A kidney for Iris

Donation protected
Hi! This is Iris’ boyfriend Eros checking in. Everyday life has been very different for Iris and I since we started Iris' dialysis treatment because we are in a constant battle with depression, stress, anxiety and high blood pressure. High blood pressure and stress among other things can lead to CKD, also known as Chronic kidney disease.

Iris was diagnosed with CKD in December 2015 which has already been well over 4 years ago and it has been nothing but an uphill battle with the condition. She is now at a stage 5 which is considered to be complete failure of the Kidneys and operating at less than 10% of their ability to cleanse toxins from the body. Even having too much vitamins or minerals such as calcium and phosphorus can have very bad effects that can also lead to infections or other problems.

Dialysis is a procedure where you connect yourself to a machine or organizer and physically filter out the toxins in the body because your kidneys can't do it anymore! It's a great and incredible treatment and but it’s also something that you have to plan your days around of. Many dialysis patients also experience depression and anxiety among other mental and psychological disorders due to CKD. From ever changing medications, doing in-home dialysis and attending to almost weekly appointments, it's a very tiring disease to be up against! But we have remained positive in every aspect despite knowing it's a difficult situation to deal with. It's very hard for Iris to keep up her energy sometimes because CKD makes her very tired and she loses most of her energy in a couple of hours!

There’s no harder feeling knowing that at any given time my girlfriends health can take a dive from where she’s at now. Even with the utmost care and patience, CKD can result in horrible things including, strokes, seizures and even death.
The goal for everyone is to get a kidney transplant but living in CA the average waiting time on the transplant list can be up to 8 YEARS! That is such a
long time to be able to finally get the help someone needs desperately. In my girlfriend's case, she doesn’t have to wait so long!

One brave soul has been devoting her time, energy and patience into getting ready for the procedure and we have also been trying our very best to get ready for the transplant which will happen this May!

The cost of the operation is huge and on average it's about $260,000! The result of the transplant also means my girlfriend will have to remain on medications for the rest of her life. We have insurance but it can only cover so much! There's also the subject of possible rejection of the kidney, which means she would have to have to get that transplanted kidney removed from her body.

Iris is the best thing that has ever happened to me and I really want her to be able to enjoy her life the way me, you and many other lucky healthy individuals can! So many people take their health and body for granted but be aware that we are blessed to be able to do things some others simply cannot!

Hopefully you can make a difference in our lives by making a donation to our GoFundMe campaign and sharing our page with all your friends and family online!!! Thank you so much and have a blessed day :)
