A kidney for Barry

My name is Denny Behm, and I taught French horn at The University of Southern Mississippi from 1974 to 2003. Thirteen years ago I was able to help a friend suffering from kidney failure by donating my “spare” kidney to him. It kept him from having to go on dialysis and gave him additional years of quality life.
Now I’m trying to help find a donor for another friend, Barry Presley, of Atlanta, Georgia. I, along with eight others, just completed a 400 mile bicycle ride from Iowa City to Minneapolis to bring attention to the miracle of living kidney donation, and to help find that donor for Barry. I feel the ride was a success in that we were able to generate a lot of publicity for the ride, and in so doing, for Barry’s plight and living kidney donation in general.
We haven’t succeeded in finding a donor as of yet, but I’m still optimistic that one is out there who has seen our message and will soon come forward. Being a kidney donor is one of the truly wonderful things a person can do, and will make you forever feel good about yourself while helping someone else live a normal, healthy life.
Barry Presley is a USN veteran, having served our country for four years on board the aircraft carrier John F. Kennedy. He is a devoted husband and father. He and his wife, Marshina, have two wonderful children, one an outstanding clarinet player and the other a gifted athlete.
Until we find a donor, the Presley’s are having understandable financial difficulties. This is as a result of Barry no longer being able to work because of his kidney failure which means he has to undergo dialysis three times a week and then too weak to work when he’s not on dialysis. Marshina has had to go from full-time to part-time at her job, as she has to be there to take Barry to and from his dialysis sessions, and to help care for him throughout the week.
Please help if you can. We are truly thankful to all those who have helped so far. If you can’t help at this time, please SHARE THIS MESSAGE. It might just reach the person who will become Barry’s donor and angel!
