Many of you know that I recently lost my dad. Because of that, I canceled the plans I had to celebrate my 50th birthday, and instead took the occasion to raise funds to get back home to Pennsylvania and hold a memorial for him. Thanks to your help, we were able to hold a beautiful memorial gathering on March 7th, surrounded by my father's art, at the Dutot Museum and Gallery. And I have also arranged transportation for early May to take his ashes to Scotland, where we had always dreamed of going together to explore our family roots. After that, I will return briefly to Pennsylvania, where I still have some work to do photographing all of my dad's paintings for the book I am making to honor his career as an artist. I will keep the fundraiser open for now, with an adjustable goal to help with the extra trip and the costs of printing the book.
I was so grateful to be able to travel for my dad's memorial service, and to have some time in Pennsylvania, where I was also able to clean out some of my dad's storage and reduce its ongoing cost. Now, thanks to all your support, I will soon be scattering his ashes in Scotland, and I am well into the process of making a book of his art for all of us to remember him by.
This funding has already made it possible for me to pay a fitting tribute to my father, and prevented me from falling further into debt in the process. Your contributions are greatly appreciated and will always be remembered.
I still have some travel expenses, and I am still paying the cost of storing the paintings while I photograph them and prepare the book, which will hopefully lead to a show. So I am very grateful to anyone is able to offer continued support.
Thank you to everyone who is able to help! And please feel free to contact me with any questions!
