Campaign Description

Fariborz Soroush is a well-known Iranian journalist who dedicated many years of his life to media and writing. In recent years, due to circumstances beyond his control, he has been forced away from journalism. Living in exile, he took on physically demanding and unrelated jobs—construction work, retail, and driving—to survive.

Throughout this period, he endured profound personal losses in silence: separation from his child, the pain of being unable to write, and the grief of losing his mother, brother, and other loved ones. Illness left little space to share or process these burdens.

Initially, his tumor—though malignant—was under control. Over time, the disease spread to his lungs, and later signs appeared in his larynx, making treatment significantly more complex and exhausting. His physical condition now prevents him from working.

While Canada’s healthcare system covers most medical treatment and provides disability benefits, this support does not meet basic living costs. Rent for a small apartment and everyday necessities far exceed the monthly disability income.

This campaign has been created to help Fariborz cover essential living expenses so he can spend the next six months focused on treatment and recovery, without the constant stress of financial survival.

توضیح کمپین

فریبرز سروش، نامی آشنا در میان جامعه روزنامه‌نگاران ایرانی است. او سال‌ها با قلم خود در عرصه رسانه حضور داشته، اما چند سالی‌ست به‌دلایل ناخواسته از این حرفه دور مانده است. زندگی در غربت او را ناچار کرد برای گذران معاش، به کارهایی دور از جهان نوشتن روی بیاورد؛ از کارگری ساختمان گرفته تا فروشندگی و رانندگی.

در این سال‌ها، اندوه‌های سنگینی را به‌تنهایی به دوش کشیده است؛ رنجِ دوری از نوشتن، فاصله دردناک از فرزند، و داغِ از دست دادن مادر، برادر و دیگر عزیزان. بیماری اما مجال گفتن و قسمت‌کردن این دردها را از او گرفت.

ابتدا تومور، اگرچه بدخیم بود، تحت کنترل قرار داشت. با گذشت زمان، درگیری ریه و سپس بروز نشانه‌هایی در ناحیه حنجره، روند درمان را پیچیده‌تر و فرساینده‌تر کرد؛ تا جایی که امروز دیگر توان جسمی برای کار کردن برای او باقی نمانده است.

در کانادا، با وجود پوشش گسترده درمان و دریافت حقوق ازکارافتادگی، این حمایت‌ها پاسخگوی هزینه‌های پایه زندگی نیست. اجاره یک آپارتمان کوچک و مخارج روزمره، به‌مراتب بیش از دریافتی ماهانه است.

این کمپین برای آن راه‌اندازی شده تا فریبرز سروش بتواند حداقل شش ماه آینده را بدون فشار شدید مالی، در آرامش نسبی و در همان خانه کوچک، صرف درمان و بازیابی توان جسمی خود کند.
