My name is Miramar Maniego, and I am writing this with a heavy heart as I ask for help on behalf of my brother and our family.

On December 11, my sister-in-law Marissa was rushed to the emergency room in the Philippines after being diagnosed with severe pneumonia. We were hopeful at first, but her condition continued to worsen. By December 19, she had to be transferred to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), where she remains today, fighting for her life and relying on a respirator to breathe.

As a family, we came together and did everything we could to cover the initial hospital expenses, believing we could manage somehow. But as the days passed, the medical needs grew, and the daily costs became overwhelming. My brother and his family are now struggling to keep up with the mounting hospital bills.

Due to an outstanding balance, the hospital has informed them that some critical procedures cannot be done unless paid for in cash upfront. The medication that is currently helping Marissa costs ₱19,000 every single day, not including the continuous laboratory tests, procedures, and ICU care required to keep her stable.

Watching my brother face the fear of possibly being unable to afford the care his wife desperately needs has been heartbreaking. No family should have to worry about finances while their loved one is fighting to survive.
