On December 2020, I helped Angela set up a fundraiser, with the goal of moving the animal shelter. Here we are again, asking for your help. We came up short and were not able to complete the purchase and therefore the relocation of the shelter. Fast forward to 2023, and not only is the current refuge in physically bad shape, but the neighbors do not want the refuge in their neighborhood, which slowly but surely is becoming urbanized. Angela is now dealing with vandalism, and recently as many as 8 animals were poisoned. Someone has taken it upon themselves to throw bags with poisoned snacks over the fence, so enticing the animal to eat them and killed them.

As animal lovers, we just can stay idle and see this injustice happen. I plead with you. Donate anything you can 1, 5, 10, or 20 dollars; and if you can't donate please spread the word. Having an animal refuge in the Dominican Republic is truly an act of love, and Angela does it without any governmental support. She relies on her means and the help of people like you. After four years of making my house a refuge of Love and care for our herd,# rescuedbylovehome , we have to say goodbye to this place and relocate . Me and many of the animals have been with me for more than six years; some arrived and have not found a home, or are disabled, or have special needs, others departed, but they are still here in spirit, and many others already have their #foreverhome, and we called this place home.

In Rescued by Love RD, we need to launch an SOS. Our refuge, my home, is on the verge of collapse due to construction with many structural deficiencies, heavy rains, and inadequate intentional interventions by third parties, the deterioration of the foundation and walls increased rapidly, which is why I find myself in a challenging task of transferring the 120 boys between cats and dogs that today shared this space and have been and will be part of my life.

This transfer aims to move the refuge outside the city to a rural area to prepare land with all the necessary infrastructure to continue carrying out this work. After 1,461 days with the shelter and thousands of stories behind me, I see how this dream of giving another chance at life collapses due to situations out of our control. My goal is to be in the new place by the end of January 2021.

Today I appeal to you to lend us a hand, to help us so that this work can continue. The will and the desire to continue fighting for the voiceless remains, but unfortunately, logistics and economic factors at this moment are against us.
