On March 31, Gerald Peavy was driving home from work. He was in his new car—the best car he ever had— still wearing his Amazon uniform. He was looking forward to seeing his son, who was waiting for him, taking off his work clothes, and taking it easy after a long day.

Instead he was pulled over in front of his house, beaten by police, and arrested (along with his son) without cause. In total 18 officers arrived at his home, where he (an aging man suffering from disease) was beaten on his own front lawn, along with child, in front of their neighbors.

I am representing the Peavy family in their lawsuit. But that is a long and difficult fight for justice. In the meantime, the Peavy’s have no income, are facing homelessness, as as well as facing a Christmas very different than the one they had planned. In two minutes, their lives changed from stability and hope to imprisonment, pain, and desperation.

Please help them if you can. These are good people, our neighbors. I especially feel for Gerald Jr., who is a quiet young man who has never been in trouble with the law before in his life. I do not want that horrible day too lead to consequences that will hurt his entire life. That’s why I’m representing them. I’m helping them as much as I can too. But a little from you, if you can, would make such a great difference.

There are so many worthy causes, but giving this family a little breathing room and maybe a decent Christmas is certainly one of them.
