A hoist, a hoist, Jayne's career for a hoist
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Jean Edwards. I am fundraising for my good friend, Jayne Ross.
On 9th February, 2022, Jayne was involved in a life-changing car accident. It was a terrifying experience! Jayne was minding her own business, sitting in her parked car in Home Bargains car park, when a third party lost control of their own car and crashed into her. Jayne was trapped in her car and had to be cut out (thanks go to Cambs Fire and Rescue Service, East of England Ambulance Service , Cambs Police and Peterborough City Hospital). The damage to Jayne's car was so severe that it was written off.
22 months on, the full extent of Jayne's injuries are still unclear. She is seeking a second opinion regarding the damage to one of her artificial hips and is also waiting for treatment on her shoulder and her hand. As if that wasn't bad enough, just before Christmas, Jayne broke her right femur in five places simply by twisting round. This resulted in a six hour operation to rebuild the femur with wires and screws and replace both parts of her artificial hip; not to mention a miserable stay in Peterborough hospital over Christmas.
Even before this latest unfortunate event, Jayne's injuries were deemed so severe that she is now registered disabled and needs a wheelchair to get around. It will take years for the insurance claim to be fully settled.
Jayne's beloved career as a Live Events Showcaller has gone to rack and ruin; disabled facilities on-site for crew are extremely poor and showcalling positions are often completely inaccessible. This means that Jayne has worked very little in 2023; she has used up all her savings and is now reliant on disability benefits. In addition, Jayne's mental health has taken a massive knock.
Even when a job is completely suitable, Jayne needs help to get her electric wheelchair (a major investment which she has funded herself) in and out of the car she bought after the accident.
These funds will be used to install a factory fitted hoist to Jayne's car and an electric charging point for her wheelchair in her garage. This will give Jayne a degree of independence and enable her to get on-site more easily. Once she has recovered, Jayne is keen to get back to working as much as she can, so she can reduce her dependency on benefits.
Please give as generously as you can. This will make such a difference to Jayne.
