Remembering Juan Durruthy and honoring his legacy

Juan “J.R” Durruthy, is a Southbay treasure, beloved husband, father, entrepreneur and storyteller. He has had a life worth remembering and a wonderful journey. At age 66, he has entered hospice care in his home in Chula Vista, CA.

We don’t know how much time Juan has with us, but we want him to be as comfortable and as noble as possible. We owe him that.

All of the funds raised here will go directly to Juan’s wife and devoted partner Juana, in order to provide adequate nursing care, and help with all necessary expenses in the coming period. While putting up a great fight , Juana has finally agreed to accept our loving support as she has had to quit her job while giving her husband the best care possible, is leaving a hard financial burden, and during this time she should only have to worry about taking care of her husband in his time of need and around the clock care.

Juan has been a devoted husband, father and a outstanding citizen to our community, serving on the San Ysidro and Otay Mesa Chamber of Commerce, volunteering his time on the tech team at Eastlake church to being at the football games for his grandsons. If you knew Juan you know how much his family means to him and how giving this man has been to everyone. He let everyone in his home, offered them a meal and always left them better than he found them.

We humbly and boldly seek the financial help for J.R. and Juana, as this came very quick and they both haven’t been able to work in order to care for him 24/7 and manage the pain. The cost of having medical bills piling up and planning for a funeral. We realize the past year has been challenging for everyone in many ways, so if not financially, I ask for prayers and by sharing this.
