A helping hand for Rowan Jade

Hi Upstate Community!
I wanted to reach out to you for our amazing friends, Tamara and Kezia Cooper! They have given so much to our community through their love and work, and now there is an opportunity to show them and their family a little love! Please read on to hear about Kezia’s daughter’s unfortunate accident... in her own words:
”Our curious, smart, sweet little Rowan Jade took a tumble and broke her leg. We were transferred to Albany Medical Center from the Kingston ER. Her bones were reset early Saturday morning and the orthopedic surgeon put her in a spica cast. If you’ve never heard of a spica cast... count your blessings! A spica cast is essentially a full body, immobilizing cast. Rowan Jade’s starts at her chest and extends down the entire effected leg. She also has a partial cast down to her knee on the other leg with a fancy bar connecting the two in order to keep her broken femur in position. We look forward to decorating it with all sorts of 2 year old creations. This will be her new look for the next 2 months. Imagine a toddler, with all that curiosity and energy, not able to move around!! It’s been a humbling experience to be at the mercy of such an injury and to meet other parents at Albany Med who may not be so lucky to have a child with an affliction that will heal. The Ronald McDonald House Family Room on our pediatric floor in the hospital has been a saving grace. We expect to be discharged soon after our 5 day stay and finally awaiting a custom spica car seat.
We’ve found lots of blogs and YouTube videos of parents sharing their spica cast survival tips. Some caring friends of ours offered to launch this Go Fund Me page to help us supply her with some of these gadgets to keep her as content as possible on this journey. Think bean bag chairs, wagons, crafts galore! We are so grateful for everyone’s support and generosity. In gratitude-Rowan Jade, Jasper, Michael & Kezia.”
Thank you!
We love you all and appreciate your thoughts, love and prayers, as well as any little bit you can kick in!!
