In Loving Memory of Mika Immonen

A Champion. A Friend. A Legend.

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Mika Immonen — a true legend in the world of pool and a cherished member of our global community. Mika faced his battle with cancer with unwavering courage and strength, remaining resilient until the very end.

Beyond being a multiple-time World Champion and U.S. Open Champion, Mika was a mentor, a friend, and an inspiration to so many. His relentless pursuit of excellence, deep love for the game, and generous spirit touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Earlier this year, Mika endured another heartbreaking loss with the passing of his twin brother, Kari — a pain that weighed heavily on him. In a message to a close Christian friend, he wrote:
“I’m flying to my brother’s funeral. Please pray for me. Got to be strong for mom.”
Even in his own grief, Mika remained a source of strength for his beloved mother, Laura, standing by her through unimaginable sorrow.

Mika was a very close friend of mine, and his loss has been deeply felt by everyone who knew him. My name is Caroline Pao, and I’m raising funds to support his mother, Laura Paloheimo, during this difficult time. The money raised will go directly to Laura to help cover the funeral services in both New York and Finland, as well as the expenses of bringing Mika back home to Finland. These services will honor the two places he called home and the countless lives he touched along the way. Details will be shared once they’re confirmed.
