Imagine being diagnosed with cancer...fighting the battle and overcoming the challenge...then a couple of years later, the diagnosis returns....So the battle begins again...and you fight through this aggressive and rare cancer, with no income for the family as your battle is being fought a long way from home. During this time , your home is ransacked and left in disarray with precious items, spare change and even the food for the children is taken.
David Woodfine in the Royal Melbourne Hospital fighting an aggressive and rare form of leukemia with partner Sally Belcher by his side. One month ago, their family life was thrown in to chaos when David was diagnosed with the aggressive and rare acute t-cell lymphoma/leukemia and was told he would require a stem cell transplant.
It’s the second cancer diagnosis for David, who in 2014 was successfully treated for non-Hodgkins lymphoma. This time its is worse and David will need a stem cell transplant because it’s more aggressive.
David has not been able to go home in the 5 weeks since his diagnosis and is separated from his children. His partner Sally spends her time in Melbourne with David meaning they are depending on the support of family and friends several hours away at home. It is a very difficult time.
The children currently spend alternate weeks with their relatives in Creswick and Ararat, and in Melbourne around the hospital To make the burglary even worse, the belongings were not insured.
Life was already tough enough as it was … and the robbery has only made things even worse.
David and Sally have not asked for help- this is their battle and all they asked was that their belongings be returned so they can ensure their family is not suffering any more than needed.
It would be so wonderful to see this family given some financial support so that they can continue to fight this battle knowing that the everyday burden of bills, food for the family and petrol for the long trips to and from the hospital could be met.
