A helping hand for Amy and Sophie
This is nearly 2 year old Sophie Ruth. She loves birds, dancing, diggers and cats.
Two weeks ago she was diagnosed with Congenital Heart Disease and will be having open heart surgery to patch a 2.1cm hole in her heart on July 13 at Westmead Children’s Hospital in Sydney. This is unexpected and shocking news to everyone that loves Sophie.
Sophie Ruth and her mum Amy will be travelling from their home on the NSW South Coast for pre op, surgery and post op appointments. This is a 6 hour drive each way with stops to stretch restless legs.
They need your help. Any contribution that you can make will go towards the surgery gap payment, petrol, car maintenance, accomodation in Sydney and then half way to break up the trip home after hospital discharge, meals and incidentals such as prepaid mobile data and any unexpected costs. It will also go towards housing their cat at the kennels while they are away. Any extra raised will go towards help with things such as electricity bill and firewood once home post op.
You could also help by sharing this go fund me far and wide. Seriously far and seriously wide because this couldn’t have happened to more loving, kind and selfless people.
*** edit *** initial calculations were underestimated and did not allow for any foreseen events. Because of this the amount wished for has been put up to 10,000.
Regardless of this the amount raised already is absolutely incredible although having the financial security if unforeseen events occurred would ease any worry for the family at this time.
This is incredibly close to my heart, these are the people who cared for my mum when I couldn't be there, drove her to countless hospital appointments, took her to emergency, cared for her emotionally, mentally and physically. These are the people who cared for me when I was drowning in grief, who checked in with me without fail, who put themselves second and third and last on the list without hesitation for me and so many others. These people are my family
Amy and Sophie live in Mogo. They suffered devastatingly during the bushfires earlier this year and to now receive this news and have their world turned upside down yet again is inconceivable and beyond unfair! https://www.1millionwomen.com.au/blog/australian-parents-share-bushfire-heartbreak-plea-government-covid-19-recovery-must-be-climate-focused/
Please, whatever you can give whether it be $1 or $100, it doesn’t matter, it all eases the financial burden attached to this unfortunate and horrible experience.
You can be comforted knowing your generosity is going to genuine and incredibly appreciative and humble people who truly deserve a bit of good in their lives and some helping hands. Sophie and Amy will be forever grateful! Xx
