My name is Sandra Keating, aunt of Genesis Duarte
My niece Genesis Duarte is a young woman, entrepreneur, fighter, strong, dreamer, passionate about life and family with great and humble heart.
At the beginning of the year 2018 (Due to hard crisis in Venezuela) she was forced to leave her native country to Spain. Looking for better life opportunities, but her dream was truncated weeks after her arrival due to the sudden deterioration of her health. Presenting a series of symptoms such as dizziness, vomits, loss of hearing, headaches, loss of balance etc. Her plans to find a job changed unexpectedly to innumerable visits to the Doctor to have an answer to what was happening. She was totally shocked and confused, in fact, at her 28 she had never had any serious health problem.
After several studies finally Doctors gave her a diagnosis. They found an Acoustic Neuroma, a rare non-cancerous tumor but delicate due of the area where it was located at. As a consequence of the size of the tumor, were affected the nearest blood vessels, the brain structure, also the adjacent nerves that control the facial muscles, the auditory nerve and the nerves of the balance.
In view of the tumor was putting her life at risk, my niece was operated as soon as possible on
September 20, 2018. the surgery lasted 10 hours. Apparently, everything had come out successfully, but two days later she had complications losing consciousness and causing a deep coma. She wakes up 3 days later, but unfortunately these complications left tremendous sequels such as immobility in her legs, arms, loss of vision, at the same time the tumor affected the facial nerves (facial paralysis in the right side) and hearing loss in the right ear.
Devastating news, so her parents and sister traveled to Spain to support her in this hard process. Since then they are covering all the necessary expenses, which has been very hard so far for them to keep paying because. Although she has made some progress, it is a long process for her to recover her stability and be able to walk, listen and see. Therefore, she still need more therapies sessions (which are very costly), such as:
Water Rehabilitation (Hydrotherapy)
Visual therapy
Acupuncture
Rehabilitation with Physiotherapy
Therapeutic massage (on her legs)
In addition, she needs a hearing aid device, to improve her hearing and maintain balance.
Those have been very difficult times for all of us and for the parents , who are now struggling with the financial situation to continuing supporting Genesis in its longed recovery.

Mi sobrina Genesis Duarte es una mujer joven, emprendedora, luchadora, fuerte, soñadora, apasionada por la vida y la familia con un corazón grande y humilde.
A comienzos del año 2018 (Debido a la fuerte crisis en Venezuela) se vio obligada a abandonar su país natal a España. Buscando mejores oportunidades de vida, pero su sueño se vio truncado semanas después de su llegada debido al repentino deterioro de su salud. Presentando una serie de síntomas como mareos, vómitos, pérdida de la audición, dolores de cabeza, pérdida del equilibrio, etc. Sus planes para encontrar un trabajo cambiaron inesperadamente a innumerables visitas al médico para tener una respuesta a lo que estaba sucediendo. Estaba totalmente sorprendida y confundida, de hecho, a sus 28 años nunca había tenido ningún problema de salud grave.
Después de varios estudios, finalmente, los médicos le dieron un diagnóstico. Encontraron un Neuroma Acústico. Un tumor raro no canceroso pero delicado debido a la zona donde se encontraba. Como consecuencia del tamaño del tumor, se afectaron los vasos sanguíneos más cercanos, la estructura cerebral y también los nervios adyacentes que controlan los músculos faciales, el nervio auditivo y los nervios del equilibrio.
En vista de que el tumor estaba poniendo en riesgo su vida, mi sobrina fue operada lo antes posible el 20 de septiembre de 2018. La cirugía duró 10 horas. Aparentemente, todo había salido con éxito, pero dos días después tuvo complicaciones al perder el conocimiento y causar un coma profundo. Ella se despierta 3 días después, pero desafortunadamente, estas complicaciones dejaron secuelas tremendas, como inmovilidad en sus piernas, brazos, pérdida de visión, al mismo tiempo que el tumor afectó los nervios faciales (parálisis facial en el lado derecho) y pérdida auditiva en el oido derecho.
Una noticia devastadora, por lo que sus padres y su hermana viajaron a España para apoyarla en este difícil proceso. Desde entonces están cubriendo todos los gastos necesarios, lo que hasta ahora ha sido muy difícil para ellos seguir pagando porque. Aunque ha progresado un poco, es un proceso largo para recuperar la estabilidad y poder caminar, escuchar y ver. Por lo tanto, todavía necesita más sesiones de terapias ( la cual son muy costosas), tales como:
Rehabilitación de agua (hidroterapia)
Terapia visual
Acupuntura
Rehabilitación con fisioterapia
Masaje terapéutico (en las piernas).
Además, ella necesita un audífono para mejorar su audición y mantener el equilibrio.
Han sido tiempos muy difíciles para todos, especialmente para sus padres, quienes ahora están luchando con la situación financiera para continuar apoyando a Genesis en su anhelada recuperación.
