We are reaching out with heavy hearts, hoping to share our story and ask for your kindness and support during this difficult time.
My name is Christopher Spires, and I want to tell you about my amazing wife, Maria Alexis Fe.
Together, we’ve been living in our small apartment in Santa Cruz, California, for about a year. It has been a place of comfort and love, but recently, our circumstances have taken a turn that has left us feeling overwhelmed and frightened.
Maria is a retired registered nurse who dedicated her life to caring for others. She has touched the lives of countless patients with her compassion and dedication. Unfortunately, in recent years, her health has declined, and she has faced significant mental health and physical challenges that have rendered her unable to work.
Watching her struggle has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever faced. The woman who spent her life helping others is now in need of help herself.
As her husband, I have always been proud to support her, but my income comes from (SSDI), which doesn’t provide nearly enough for us to make ends meet.
Our rent is currently $2,850 a month, and we have learned that it is soon going to increase, putting even more strain on our already tight budget.
Despite our best efforts, our savings have been completely depleted. We’ve spent countless nights worrying about how we will pay our rent and cover our basic bills. The thought of losing our home is terrifying.
This apartment is more than just walls and a roof; it is a sanctuary where we’ve created memories, shared laughter, and found solace in each other’s company. We can’t bear the thought of being forced to leave.
Maria’s SSDI benefits are expected to come through sometime this year, but until then, we are in desperate need of financial assistance. Without help, we risk losing everything we have worked so hard to maintain.
We understand that times are tough for many people right now, and we would not be asking for help if we weren’t truly in a crisis.
