A Heartfelt Farewell to a Beloved Soul

We are deeply saddened to share the passing of, Merris Jeffries Morris, affectionately known as 'Mima’ by her two granddaughters, a treasured member of our community. She was a talented drummer, playing with the same enthusiasm with which she approached life. Merris exuded boundless kindness and held a profound love for her family, church, and community.

Merris was a devoted sister to her twin brothers Larry and Lenny Hayden and a cherished aunt. Born and raised in Otisville NY, attending Otisville Union Free. Though she mourned the loss of her son, Luther R Gilchrist JR, she leaves behind a loving family, including her devoted daughter Nicole McGovern, her son-in-law Chris McGovern, and her two cherished granddaughters, Justice and Lyric.
