Hello Everyone,
I am Alton Jackson, the son of Edith Jackson, who silently and peacefully passed away in the early hours of the morning, Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at Aventura Hospital. All who knew her loved her, and those she met for the first time fell in love with her instantly.
On late Monday night, February 2, 2026, our mother lost her balance in a bathroom she had maneuvered in for more than four years. My wife and I heard a loud thump on the floor, and immediately we both jumped up at the same time and rushed into her room. She was on the floor in excruciating pain. After being helped up from the floor, my wife helped her finish bathing, and I carried her to the bed. We contacted 911, who later took her to the emergency room at Aventura Hospital. The nurses and doctors worked to ease her pain and bring down her high blood pressure. In the midst of all the commotion, our mother developed a right sensory cortex bleed that controls the motor sensors of the body. This bleed led to her being placed on a ventilator in ICU, which is where she remained until the day she passed away.
It is often said that we are born and then there is an appointed time for us to die. The dash between the two important dates equates to years alive on this Earth and the time we were blessed with to make an impact in the world. This could include but is not limited to family, recreational friends, co-workers, strangers we meet, etc. We are happy to say our mother wasted no time sharing her love, a hug, a smile, encouraging word, wisdom, and her life. She was a mama bear in all senses of the word. She made everyone feel special in their own position in her life. She always said, “I have no favorite.” Mom’s heart was gigantic. Her parents, siblings, children, nieces, nephews, grands, great-grands, great-great-grands, their spouses, church family, friends, bosses, and co-workers all had a piece of her heart. Interestingly, her heart was the last to go.
Your giving to the Edith J. GoFundMe account will go to a worthy cause. Our mother paid for her own life insurance policy; however, the policy was a fixed benefit that did not automatically adjust for cost of living increases. As a result of this oversight, we need your help to pay off the additional expenses we have incurred. Please know all donations will go to ensure the funeral plans for our mother are paid in full and final.
Thank you in advance for your financial support. The Bible says, “Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”
Luke 6:38 NKJV
