Hello!
My name is Kemberlie Hornbeak and sixteen years ago I was blessed with a new lease on life, a heart transplant. Yes! Another heart much healthier than my old one. The last sixteen years have been quite a journey with good and bad days; however, the BEST days by far outweighs them all. In 2017 Shortly after having my 13th annual appointment with my transplant team, I was faced with another mountain. After enduring many tests and procedures, I was told that I now have a condition called Cardiac Allograft Vasculopathy or CAV. Just a fancy way of saying chronic rejection that narrows the blood vessels in my transplanted heart. Unfortunately, there is no cure at this time; the only option is a second transplant. I’ve been on the heart transplant list in Dallas, Tx. since 2017 and with God’s grace and mercy; I was accepted with Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles, Ca. for a dual listing. God is so faithful!
During my heart evaluation in L.A. they discovered my kidney function had significantly declined as well. This means not only will I need a new heart; I’ll also need a new kidney, a double organ transplant.
I have been blessed thus far with great health insurance to take care of most of my medical expenses; however, due to the hospital being located in California, I will be responsible for travel and lodging along with additional medical expenses.
I am stepping out on faith as I will soon get a call requiring me to relocate per clinic protocol for at least the first 3 months post-transplant.
I am desperately asking for your fervent prayers and monetary support. All donations are appreciated and no amount is too small. The donations will bless me in assisting with medical supplies, transportation to and from hospital, food and housing.
My goal is to reach $15,000 to help with the expenses while transitioning to Los Angeles for at least 3 months. My husband has about 1 month’s worth of vacation/ personal time and FMLA, but then will eventually have to come back to Oklahoma to continue working in order to keep our insurance and all necessities flowing smoothly. Any donation will help on this journey ahead and some of the expenses we will accrue.
