A Heart for Yvonne (Ferguson) Cooperider
Donation protected
**UPDATE**
Yvonne has been admitted to the ICU unit in Florida. While she was at the hospital for testing, many of the results were much worse than the Dr.’s had anticipated. Her daughter Amanda (or myself) will continue to update you as her situation will continue to change.
This GoFundMe is being created for someone who has continued to give selflessly even during her own time of need. Yvonne has suffered from heart disease for much of her adult life. She must receive a heart transplant in order to save her life. She has been listed to receive a transplant once a donor becomes available. The insurance deductible is $10,000. Once a heart becomes available, she will need to pay for a charter flight as she must leave immediately. The charter flight is $18,000. She, and her husband Tracey, will also need to pay for housing and living expenses during and after the transplant. Tracey also suffers from heart disease.
Yvonne is a loving daughter, wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and a good friend to many. She desperately needs this transplant!
I have included Yvonne’s story if you would like to read.
I began to suffer from cardiomyopathy when I was 34 year old. The Dr.’s believe it was due to my diagnosis of diabetes at 4 years of age, but heart disease also runs in my family. I had my 1st bypass surgery when I was 35 years of age. Since then, I have encountered 4 more open heart surgeries and 61 heart catheterizations. At the age of 44, I was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure. Many days I struggle to breathe. It has greatly affected my quality of life and performing normal everyday activities.
In 2018, I became extremely ill. My heart stopped beating. Due to my husband administering CPR, and the quick response by the paramedics, they were able to shock my heart back into rhythm. I was taken by Medflight to Cleveland Clinic. A couple of weeks after arriving home, my heart stopped again, but my defibrillator did its job!
Due to the severity of my illness, my medical team decided an Lvad (Left Ventricular Assist Device) would be my best option until a transplant could happen. I have had my Lvad for over two years now. My health continues to decline. I need a human heart rather than a machine.
Florida has a larger pool of potential donors. This will be my best chance at receiving a heart, but the expense is more than we are able to spend.
Right now, this seems to be my only chance for a heart transplant. I’ve remained on the donor list in Ohio for quite some time now, with no such luck.
My husband and I will be making the trip to Florida. We will stay in a hotel for the 1st two weeks of my journey. We will then return to Ohio where we will anxiously wait for a call that someone has graciously donated his/her heart. We will need to charter a flight as a heart is only viable for so long. After surgery, we will remain in Florida during the recovery progress, which will be 3-6 months.
There are evenings where I’m not so sure I will awaken in the morning. I desperately want to live out the rest of my life with my family. I want to see my grandchildren grow! I need to seize this opportunity while it is available to me. I will be forever grateful for your donations.
Love, Yvonne.
