Over the past three years, our family has become increasingly involved with helping vulnerable children in Uganda through our Uprising project. With the support and generosity of friends and family, we have been able to change the stories of many children, by showing them love in tangible ways and giving them hope for a new future .

Occasionaly, we have taken on cases outside of the normal perimeters of Uprising to help children with special needs. Although we understand that we can not help everyone, we believe that God leads us to where we can make a difference. When we learned about Travis Mulwaana, we knew we had to try.

Travis was born with a life threatening heart condition (double outlet right ventricle with malaposed great arteries, severe subpulmonary stenosis) that requires surgery that can not be performed in Uganda. The Fortis Hospital in India has agreed to perform the surgery and Mending Kids has pledged to cover the costs of the surgery. We have committed to try to help raise the remaining funds  associated with airfare and a three week stay in India and we are already halfway to our goal of $4,500! 

Travis' condition has deteriorated over the past few months. In addition, the expense of his medications have caused a tremendous financial burden on his struggling family and they recently had to move to smaller living quarters in the slums of Kampala. However, the passports have arrived and the only thing standing in between Travis and the rest of his life is the remaining $2,200.
