A HEART FOR JULIA
Donation protected
Julia Wren Short is a 2 month old that was diagnosed with biventricular hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, bilateral outflow tract obstruction, pulmonary valve and subvalvular stenosis, and multiple small atrial and ventricle septal defects.
She was admitted into Children’s Hospital in New Orleans where she stayed for 3 weeks before being transferred to Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston. There she is being evaluated for the possibility of a heart transplant.
One of the stipulations for being put on the transplant list is that the family must be within 60 miles of Houston and be on call at all times. This means that Julia’s family has had to leave their home in Louisiana to give her this chance. The average wait for a heart is 4-6 months, with a required stay for 3 months post transplant.
Julia is the daughter of Christian Short and Taylor Brown of Krotz Springs, La. she is the granddaughter of Tammy and Phillip Gullo of Shreveport and Heather Solar of Krotz Springs.
