A heart for Aaron

Family and friends of Aaron Kondo --
We are overwhelmed by your kind and prayerful responses to recent news affecting Aaron and our whole family. For those of you who don't yet know, Aaron has a rare genetic condition that targets his muscles, specifically his heart. The time has come for him to get a new one. While we are so grateful that he has been accepted into the heart transplant program at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Kansas City, we are bracing for a very long journey ahead. Aaron will soon leave his home on Maui and relocate to Kansas, where he must remain for the foreseeable future, as he can be no more than 4 hours away from the transplant center. What this means is a pause in his career as an educator, as well as a difficult separation from his wife, Crystal, and precious children, Isaac, Ezekiel, and Hannah, all of whom will remain on Maui for the time being. The wait for a new heart is unknown but could be up to 2 years, with additional time for recovery. Aaron and his family have begun this journey knowing there will be hard times ahead -- the emotional ups and downs, the upheaval of life as they know it, the distance, travel, and heavy expenses ahead... They have put their faith in our Lord and Savior who they trust will provide for and give them exactly what they need, when they need it. With that being said, we've decided to start a GoFundMe for Aaron due to the tremendous outpouring of support and the many inquiries we've received as to how one might help. For those of you whose lives have been touched by Aaron, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your love and prayers. We begin this journey with all of you to uphold us, and we couldn't be more grateful.
“Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.”
Hebrews 12:1-2
