A HEALTHCARE HERO NEEDS YOUR HELP!
Kristi Watson Park grew up in Galion, OH. She married her husband, Young Park in 1996 and they moved to NY City for several years. During this time she worked as an Oil Service dispatcher.
As Kristi was headed to work near the Twin Towers, she experienced a “bridge view” of the Terror Attack on the morning of 9/11/2001. Thankfully, she didn’t make it to her destination and was stranded on the Koscuiuszko bridge for several hours. She eventually had to leave her vehicle parked on the bridge to walk home.
In 2010 Kristi and Young returned to Ohio for her to pursue a nursing degree. She continued to work as a medical equipment dispatcher for a company that provided mobile radiology equipment to various facilities while putting herself through nursing school. Kristi graduated nursing school in 2013, moved to the Kanawha Valley and started working at Thomas Hospital. She started her Nursing career at TMH on 5P and soon thereafter realized her calling was in the ER. She loves helping others and making a difference in the lives of those needing urgent medical care. Nursing is Kristi’s calling.
When she is not working, Kristi enjoys working on her home, gardening, traveling and spending time with family and friends. She also loves to watch movies, laugh and have a good time.
Although there’s never a good time for a diagnosis of cancer, in August that’s exactly what Kristi was told. The 2020 pandemic was already gearing up to most likely be the most stressful time of her life/career. However, cancer doesn’t wait for anyone. Kristi was diagnosed with Stage IV Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and Melanoma.
Currently she has undergone 2 surgeries and will soon require a 3rd procedure. She is also receiving chemotherapy which will continue for a few more months.
Due to her diagnosis and treatment Kristi has already been unable to work for approximately 3 months. She has several more treatments to go which means she can’t return to her job until after the treatment is complete.
As a result of the aforementioned, we ask for your monetary assistance for Kristi. No amount is too small. If you’re unable to help financially, we completely understand, and request your help by sharing this information and most importantly praying for Kristi’s speedy recovery.
