If you’ve been following our journey, you know this wasn’t an easy story to write.
As the Chambers family — an interracial family rooted in both Jamaica and Canada — we came to Jamaica with hope in our hearts. We believed we were stepping into a season of growth, purpose, and deeper family connection. We gave it our all. We invested our time, our savings, our energy, and our love into building something meaningful here.
But the reality we’ve faced has been far different from what we imagined.
Since arriving in Jamaica, we have encountered challenge after challenge — from theft, crime, and violence, to painful family betrayal. Each experience has stretched us emotionally, spiritually, and financially. What we hoped would be a foundation for our future instead became a season of survival.
And when you are parents, survival is not enough.
Our greatest responsibility is our 2 year old daughter, Raeni. Every decision we make begins and ends with her safety, her stability, and her future. As much as we love Jamaica, and as much as this land is part of our story, we have come to the difficult realization that returning to Canada is the best step forward for our family’s continued growth and protection.
This decision has broken our hearts.
Walking away from something you worked so hard to build is not easy. Starting over again is not easy. Admitting you need help is not easy.
But protecting your child?
That part is simple.
Returning home comes with multiple costs that we simply do not have the means to cover right now:
✈️ Flights back to Canada
Housing costs and deposits
Transportation expenses
️ Starter home essentials and basic furnishings
Relocation and settlement costs
We poured so much into trying to make this work that our reserves are gone. And while our faith in God remains strong, we also believe that God moves through community.
To everyone who has walked with us through the good moments and the painful ones — your love has carried us. Your prayers have strengthened us. Your messages have reminded us that we are not alone.
If you feel led to support us financially, no amount is too small. If you cannot give, please consider sharing our story. Every share expands the circle of hope around our little girl.
This isn’t just about moving countries.
It’s about choosing safety over pride.
Stability over struggle.
Peace over fear.
Returning to Canada is not giving up. It’s choosing a better foundation for our daughter’s future.
From the depths of our hearts — thank you. Thank you for seeing us. Thank you for believing in us. Thank you for loving our family enough to stand with us in this vulnerable moment.
Your support is a blessing without measure.
With gratitude, faith, and hope,
The Chambers Family
