Marshall was diagnosed at just 4 years old with a rare type of skeletal dysplasia called Spondylometaphyseal Dysplasia, Kozlowski Type (TRPV4 Gene Mutation). You may wonder what that means. Through years of guidance and education from specialists at Boston Children’s Hospital, we’ve learned that it’s a form of dwarfism that presents differently in each individual. Marshall’s specific type is extremely rare — about one in a million.
For Marshall, this condition affects his legs, hips, and feet, as well as his gait and balance, making walking and standing very difficult and painful. He is also much shorter than an average 11-year-old, and these challenges cause him significant pain. Because of this, Marshall isn’t able to do many of the things other children enjoy, like playing sports or visiting play spaces and jump parks. Even something as simple as walking to class is a big triumph for him.
Over the last few years, Marshall has shown incredible bravery through multiple surgeries. In 2022, he underwent a cervical fusion. In 2024, he had bilateral knee surgery to correct his knee alignment.
Through it all, Marshall continues to smile. He is the funniest, happiest, and most outgoing boy — and I couldn’t be more proud of him. Despite the pain and challenges, he stays positive and determined every single day.
Marshall is surrounded by amazing friends who support him and a loving family who would do anything for him. His courage, spirit, and strength inspire everyone who knows him.
We are reaching out for donations with hope to purchase a handicap-accessible home for Marshall, so that he is safe and more independent . Our family would be deeply grateful for any help — no matter the amount. Even the smallest donation means so much to us and brings us one step closer to giving Marshall the comfort and independence.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for reading Marshall’s story and for supporting our journey. ❤️
