Hans has been the men's tennis coach at UIC since 2001, and his retirement was announced earlier this month. Hans spent 21 years helping his players become the best they could be, both on and off the court. He showed these young men what it meant to be patient, kind, selfless, generous, hard-working, and successful.

 

As a coworker, Hans always showed up. He attended more UIC events than you could count- basketball, volleyball, soccer, softball, you name it, because "they needed support." Hans was the one who "replied all" to every single group email saying, "I'll be there." He always made time to give you a ride, include you in lunch plans, and make your day brighter just by taking the time to check-in and say hello.

 

Hans has supported so many people in the tennis and athletics community for such a long time that it would be wonderful to come together to give him a special retirement send-off. Maybe he'll be able to take that vacation with his children that he's been waiting on...
