My name is Heather, I'm starting this fundraiser to help my best friend Gia and my little Hudson, who calls me Aunt Heather. I've been in Hudson's life since he was born and I'm not an aunt by blood, but to him I am!! Here is Gia's story! Thank You! My name is Gia, and I'm a single mama of three beautiful children. On Halloween night, October 31st, my entire world was shattered when I received the phone call no mother should ever have to receive.
My sweet 7-year-old son, Hudson, was tragically struck by a car while spending Halloween at his dads.
Hudson is a twin, a brother, and his big sister’s best friend. My three babies are my entire world, and I never imagined something like this could happen to one of them.
When I received that call, I rushed to be with my baby. Hudson was critically injured and had to be Life Flighted to Primary Children’s hospital, where he is currently fighting for his life in the ICU.
His injuries are absolutely devastating.
* Multiple skull fractures and a severe traumatic brain injury with bleeding in his brain
* Severe lung contusions, making it extremely difficult for his body to receive oxygen
* A fractured pelvis in two places
* At least three broken ribs
* Damage to his spleen
* Multiple facial fractures
* Injuries to his ear, head, and face requiring stitches and plastic surgery
* Additional cuts and bruising
He currently has a monitor placed in his head to track the pressure on his brain. He is unresponsive to external stimuli and cannot breathe on his own. Right now, machines are keeping my baby alive.
I haven't left his side, and I have absolutely no intention of doing so.
There are no words to describe what it's like to sit beside your little boy, watching machines breathe for him, praying he'll open his eyes, and not knowing what tomorrow will bring.
I would give absolutely anything to trade places with him.
As a single mama, I've spent years doing everything I can to provide for my three children. Both of my parents are in heaven, and I have very little local family support to lean on.
I own and operate my own business, The Brazilianaire Studio, and over the years, my clients have become so much more than just clients. They've become my friends, my support system, and my village. They've supported me through some of the hardest chapters of my life, and I honestly don't know where I'd be without them. They’ve watched my children grow alongside my company
And right now, I need my village more than ever.
Being self-employed means that if I'm not working, I'm not making money. But right now, there is absolutely nowhere else I could possibly be than beside my baby.
I still have two other children who need their mama, a home to maintain, bills that don't stop coming, and no idea what the next few days, weeks, or months will look like.
We don't know what Hudson's recovery will look like, how long he will be hospitalized, or what kind of care and rehabilitation he may need moving forward.
I'm asking for help so I can focus on my son's survival and recovery without the added fear of how I'm going to financially keep our little family afloat.
Any donations will go toward our everyday living expenses, medical and recovery-related costs, transportation, and caring for my other two children while we navigate this unimaginable tragedy.
If you know me, you know asking for help isn't easy. I've always tried to figure things out on my own, but this is bigger than anything I've ever faced.
I have already experienced so much loss in my life. I've buried both of my parents and my big sister, and I cannot even begin to process the thought of losing my baby boy.
I am absolutely terrified.
Hudson just turned 7 years old. He has an entire life ahead of him. His twin sister needs her brother. His big sister needs her best friend. And I need my little miracle boy.
I also want the young driver to know that I hold no anger or animosity toward her. My heart hurts for her, too, and I truly hope she's okay. My thoughts and prayers are with her as well. I know this is something that will forever affect more than just my family.
If you are able to donate, share his story, or simply keep Hudson in your thoughts and prayers, I will forever be grateful.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone who has reached out, prayed, and supported our family.
Please keep fighting baby, My Hudsy Mac. Mama is right here, baby boy, and I'm not going anywhere. I love you for never ever ending, son. Just please come back to me, soon.❤️
Xoxo, Gia
