I'm a first generation college student that just graduated from South Plains College. A week before I was set to walk the stage in my cap and gown to recieve my diploma, I lost my mother who lived in Mexico, and my life shattered. I had to leave the country in a hurry and make the painful drive all the way to the funeral home, and then had to stay a few weeks to sort out all the legal paperwork involved, because of this I missed the deadline to apply for my merit scholarship to Texas Tech University, I really want to continue my studies, however, my financial situation stops me, my dad is a farmer with low income, and with all that has happened in my life, trying to deal with grief, finish my finals in time for the deadline and applying to jobs, my academic future is uncertain.
I can assure everyone who has or is considering donating that the money will be used directly for my college tuition and nothing more, my only goal is to obtain my degree so that I can make my mom proud once again.
