Help a victim of a heinous crime, rebuild his life

I'm Trish, Mike's Aunt & he, happily, became mine & my brothers responsibility when our only sister {his mom} passed away. On November 28th someone tried to kill him, by pushing him off the 4th story building where he lived. This was done by someone he knew, someone his ex-wife knows, I'll let you put that together {police report filed, still under investigation}. So, Mike not only almost lost his life, his marriage is obviously over, he lost his home, every worldly possession he owned & a job he loved. He will likely be permanently disabled & unable to return to work.

He's been in the Trauma ICU unit for almost 4 months, fighting his way back to us. He was recently transferred to a skilled nursing facility to continue rigorous physical therapy, in hopes of him gaining some mobility again.

His injuries are extensive; He spent 3 months on life support, unable to breathe on his own, which also caused pneumonia. Every bone in Mikes body was broken, except his back & neck, thankfully. His first surgery was to repair both tibias/fibulas in both of his legs, which broke straight through the skin, he almost lost his legs. His following surgeries were to repair his broken face, jaw {wired shut for 3 & half months, & may never be able to open his mouth fully again}, orbital fracture repair {he still can't see properly out of his eye, loss of vision & pain}, & he lost all of his teeth. He's had surgeries on his arms but still does not have use of his left hand. He had massive internal bleeding in his stomach due to lacerations of his liver & kidneys. He broke his ribs which punctured his lung. He was on a feeding tube for 3ms, it got infected, & he had to be rushed to surgery to have that repaired. He still isn't able to walk but we are hopeful with PT & time that will also improve.

He did not have health insurance when this happened & while we were able to temporarily get him on Medicaid, his needs are so extensive & a lot of it is not covered. Much of his care has been subpar to up till now & we aim to change that for him.

My brother & I are his only living relatives {we lost our mom, dad & sister in a 10 month span} & Mike lived with his mom & our mom {Nana} most of his life. These relationships were the most significant of his life, & also the most devastating to lose. My brother & I are doing everything we can to help Mike rebuild his life, but his needs are greater than our means.

This gofundme is to help Mike in every way he will need help going forward, from extended physical therapy, to actual therapy to deal with the trauma of the attempted murder on his life. Dental implants so he can eat, to finding him an apartment that fits his needs {no stairs, close to Dr's etc}, & replacing all he's lost {like the basics of clothes, toiletries, a bed}. All he has to his name right now is the pair of shoes he was wearing when he was brought into the hospital.

I will be picking Mike up from the skilled nursing home in Las Vegas where he resides, when he's stable enough to cone home, & moving him to AZ to be near us so I can assist in his care & needs going forward.
