A good family, whose father is cancer stricken

Over the past few weeks, Witek and his family had an overwheleming amount of support and there is no doubt he was grateful for it. I want to thank everyone who has donated and those who may continue to contribute. There is sad news to report. On Friday, October 7th, Witek passed away with his wife Natalia right by his side. He has left behind his wife and 2 children, as well as his brothers and all his loved ones. Thank you to everyone who took the time to be part of this transition, whether it was moral, financial, or simply loving support.

May God bless each and every one of you. May He continue to carry Witek in His hands, and give his family and friends the love and support they need throughout this process.

I want to tell you about my Godfather, Witek Mokros. My earliest memory was him gifting me a children's book just before Christmas. The book had gold lining, and I remember thinking, as a child, just how fancy it was. The earliest picture I have kept of him over these years was of him holding me as a baby.

Those two memories sum up his personality very succinctly. He was a person who loved and still loves life, he was proactive, a hard worker, a family man, always present, always going the extra mile for his friends and family. He loved nature and spent a great deal of his time in nature and working with his hands. He was and is an energetic and dynamic individual, strong willed and strong bodied.

He is married and has two children, in grade 12 and grade 9. He is a husband, father, brother and a friend to many. 

He was diagnosed with multiple cases of a very aggressive cancer, all over his body, having entered his blood, brain, bones, lungs and liver. It came on very fast with his situation deteriorating at a rapid pace. Completely unexpected and shocking, especially considering the lifestyle that he lived.

Recently he has undergone brain surgery in an effort to remove the cancer. We are hopeful of his recovery and pray for the best, however it has left his family in a situation of having to survive without him. He is a strong man who prides himself on taking care of and providing for his family. As is the case with most strong men, an unexpected weakness thrust upon them is a difficult mental battle to deal with. His wife and children are also undergoing their own struggles and difficulties as a result of his incapacitation.   

He is and will continue to be hospitalized, post-brain surgery and throughout his recovery period. The purpose of this page is to garner support for him and his family as they go through this challenging and hopefully temporary part of their life.
