A Girl In Between Foundation

Hi! I am Tiffany Kelley, RN BSN and future FNP. I am a 5 time cancer thriver currently battling stage 4 metastatic, bone dominant, breast cancer for, yep, the 5th time. I am also the founder of A Girl In Between Foundation. The foundation seeks to provide chemo care kits, along with much needed comprehensive breast cancer education and support, to women facing a new breast cancer diagnosis here on a local level. Having experienced 5 years of the devastating effects of treatment, including having lost my hair twice, I like to think I have become an expert at what I call "camoflaging cancer." It was however not such an easy thing to cope with at first. Many of the resources out there cover the nasty side of the side effects of treatments, procedures and surgeries, but provide women with no real idea how to cope in a positive way with any of these and find the warrior within themselves from the very moment their journey begins. As a survivor, nurse, fellow woman, and advocate I hope to develop A Girl In Between into a tool used to reach out to women like me, caught in the often confusing and overwhelming, "in-between" that fighting cancer becomes and give them real and tangible ways to face the battle stronger than ever. I have developed the concept of a kit called a "Camoflaging Cancer Kit" to be given to patients chosen by the participating physician and who meet the criteria of new breast cancer diagnosis. This kit would include everything the patient would need for surviving chemo, including but not limited to items such as a very realistic lace front, heat synthetic wig from wigs.com valued at nearly $400, skin care products specifically for the patient in treatment and much more. But the most important thing provided would be the option for the patient to recieve my one on one comprehensive breast cancer education which, through my Graduate studies, I have been excitedly developing.  Extensive instruction on application of the items included in the kit would also be provided. As well as an opportunity to ask those hard to ask questions from a fellow fighter, woman and Nurse Practitioner in training in a private environment and join a growing community of women supporting women. I estimate each kit to be valued at $500 to $600. Therefore, I am setting a goal of raising enough money to purchase two kits to begin with. 2 kits = 2 women in my area that are reached. A good starting goal. I am asking for your help in any small way in developing this idea that has become so close to my heart by donating anything you feel called to share with the cause. Thank you so much, ahead of time, for your support! It means the world to me! Please visit our Instagram page @a_girl_next_door to see more on my personal journey with this beast called cancer.
