A Gift for Maya
To all our family and dear friends – as we decided to take a more private route, some of you are unaware that our daughter, Maya, has been battling Stage 3-4 Hodgkins Lymphoma since her diagnosis this past April. At that time, she commenced with the standard treatment which is chemotherapy, but further tests have shown that the cancer has metastasized by way of "spots" on her lungs and spine. Due to this very unfortunate complication, Maya’s chemotherapy was heavily intensified to fight off this frighteningly invasive addition to the original diagnosis of Hodgkins.
Maya has been so incredibly strong and positive through this whole situation. She is the confident fighter that so many of you know and love. Come September, Maya is due to commence her Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology at the University of Toronto on a full scholarship that she worked incredibly hard to achieve. On that note, Maya has lost all of her beautiful hair because of the chemo she has had to endure. With a view to giving her some normalcy in her looks at the very least while she tries to move on with her life plans, we are respectfully requesting donations towards purchasing a quality wig. Wigs of this caliber being made of actual human hair typically cost between $5,000.00 and $10,000.00. We would be so grateful for any amount you are willing to donate on Maya’s behalf so she can at least look in the mirror and remember a piece of what she looked like before her diagnosis.
We thank you in advance for your kindness, prayers and contributions if able. We will keep you updated as best we can. Sending much love.
