A gift for Hollie Drouillard
I like to take this time to share with you the start of my daughters journey with cancer.
It all started back in November 2017 when Hollie started having women issues which took her to her doctor. They ended up doing an ultrasound and other test and couldn’t figure out why she was having these issues. She was sent to a gynaecologist which for six months put her on different prescriptions to try to manage the symptoms finally in October 2018 Hollie went to the hospital and that’s where they found a massive mass In her cervix, Which ended up being small cell cervical cancer stage 3B. She went through 4 rounds of chemo 3 days in a row, Also 25 external radiation and 6 internal radiations. That was between January 2019 and March 2019 Hollie has lost all her hair went into menopause and can no longer have any more children. She had a CAT scan following the treatments which showed cleared cervix. We were all in our glory with the great news that she had no more cancer in her body going from a 5 x 7 cm tumour to nothing. Not even three months later she had a following CAT scan when she was told it moved to her lungs. The doctor told her “she only had 10-12 months left to live and to start making arrangements”. That’s when all the emotional roller coaster began she was back doing more chemo this time stronger to help get rid of the lung cancer Another 6 rounds of chemo 3 days every 21 days. This time she lost her hair eyebrows and eyelashes this one was harder than the last. She felt very ugly and didn’t want to go out in public because people stared. That ended by December 2019 for that. She had another cat scan January 17, 2020 which showed her cancer had spread again To her stomach and liver. Every time she turned around it has been bad new after bad news . They started her on a different chemo once again . She started to have bladder, bowels and leg/feet problems. She has no control over them and now has to wear depends. Also she has to walk with a walker as her feet and legs hurt so bad and have no strength. They did a bone scan and a mri which showed new Tumor’s in her spinal cord. Her doctor told her because of where the tumors are in the spine that chemo won't reach it . She unfortunately was told she only has about 3 months left to live. Through all of this she has tried to be very positive and tried her best to live her life as normal as possible even though she keeps getting crapped on . She’s 31 years old , has a10 year old son. Was and still is in the middle of planning her wedding even though she doesn’t think she will make it that far. She got her hopes up that she might be a candidate for immunotherapy, only to be let down again because of it being a experimental trial , her fiancés coverage won’t cover it and every infusion which is once a month is between $3000-$4000.
she has not had a job through all of this. They had to sell there house and buy a smaller one. Her fiancé had to quit his job and get a different one with benefits (which turned out to be an amazing job) theyhave so much debt between gas, wigs, prescriptions, hotels, etc.
When she should be able to concentrate on her health and fighting this cancer again she is weight down with the financial burden that this round is going to cost on top of if the doctors are right on her life span She is stressed because she doesn’t know how her families going to make it with funeral cost while they’re dealing with their loss.
I am just reaching out to anybody who feels they could help by donating even a little to help get her and her family through this I know this would mean a lot to Hollie if she knows that her soon to be husband son Will be able to grieve without all the other unnecessary stress That cancer has caused.
Thank you in advance for taking the time to read about my daughters journey and second for any prayers and third for any help anyone is able to give .
thank you once again Don and Carolyn Drouillard
