My name is Meadow and the smiling man in this photo is my dad...not my father but the man who chose to be my dad from the age of five and continues to be my dad 42 years later. Many out there in the world know him as Song, a man with a  huge heart willing to help anyone in any way that he can.  A giant man in stature with an even bigger heart. 

I have started this gofundme fundraiser because 6 weeks ago Dad fell and he fell very hard.
He was working at the Saturday farmers market when he tripped and fell on a concrete sidewalk injuring himself quite badly. He was taken to Maui Memorial Hospital where he underwent surgery to repair his leg.  He snapped the ball of his femur bone off in his hip and damaged his knee in the fall...they put pins and rods in his femur to his knee which was also damaged.  We were not allowed into the hospital to talk to doctors, or to help Dad at all save for dropping food off for him to eat. After almost 2 weeks in the hospital they released him with little after care information and still needing serious care. He could not  walk at all and was in need of continuous care by someone that knows how to care for people. Our families solution was to put him into the care of his ex-wife (my mother an LNP) who lives in a 400 sq. ft. mother in laws cottage on someones property. Not the most ideal solution for both mom and dad but the only place that would be safe for Dad to try and recover...It is a temporary solution as mom cannot have someone living in her rental and could lose her place to live if we don't find a new place for Dad within the next month.

Dad lives alone on a estate that he is the care taker for the property in return for his doing manual labor and caring for the grounds he gets to live in a small structure on the property.
He cannot go back to this property as he is not physically capable of maneuvering the properties pathways any longer and will probably not be capable of walking on uneven grounds for quite a long time.

Additionally the property owners  are currently trying to sell the home, since  he cannot come back to work for them as he is not able to perform the hard manual labor that is needed to keep the estate working, as he has for the last 6 years, we have been asked to remove his belongings and put them into storage which they have graciously offered aide to do.

My sister owns a home on Maui but does not have a room for Dad to live in and strict rules on her homes purchase mandate that she cannot build another permanent structure despite the fact that the yard has enough space to build a cottage on it. We would like to purchase a travel trailer to house Dad on my sisters land. As this accident has caught everyone at a really bad time during this Covid pandemic family members have been laid off and cannot help financially reach this goal.

So I am hoping that we can raise the funds here with the help of all you angels out there in the world that can spare a few dollars. Any little bit that can be shared will make a difference. Hawaii does not have many travel trailers available so I am asking friends on the mainland to help in purchasing a used trailer and shipping it...traveling to the mainland ourselves is really out of the question right now with Covid travel restrictions and testing requirements as well as tests not being available for out of state visitors.

This is just the worst time ever to have a family emergency like this...it scary to think that my Dad could be homeless soon and unable to care for himself, with out a job and any aid from the government. The funds that i am hoping to raise for him will go towards the purchase of a used travel trailer, shipping that trailer and covering the cost of insuring it to get it here, as well as covering some of the medical bills and expenses like utility bills and food for Dad while he is recovering.
