A Giant Gourd Trellis At Gourdlandia!

Imagine a giant gourd trellis hanging with ripe green gourds. It’s big enough that you and your friends can go inside and be surrounded by tendrils and leaves, pepos and flowers, and lots and lots of marvelous hanging gourds. When crafted of steel pipe and wrought iron by local blacksmith Mark Teece, "The British Blacksmith,” this big gourd will stand about 10 feet high and 12 feet wide.

I’ve often been struck by the generosity of gourds. Growing right there in your garden, next to the peas and carrots and kale, is a gourd that you can use to carry them! People have evolved some 12,000 years with this remarkable plant. It’s fitting that there should be this tribute to the glorious gourd, at Gourdlandia!

True, I could pay for this myself. But then it would be my giant gourd. I have an idea that if many people contribute $10 or less, then it will end up being everybody’s gourd, which is as it should be. Someday, when I am no longer able to grow gourds, I hope this giant gourd trellis will rove from farm to farm, being shared among legions of gourd growers.
