I started a go fund me page to support Rachel and her family to have a special family holiday as they had a shock late diagnoses of terminal cancer in September 23 and were not prepared. Unfortunately Rachel passed away on February 11th 2024 without having that special time away with her family. The $800+ dollars that was raised for her special holiday will be donated to the family to help cover funeral costs. I would like to continue the fundraiser as Rachels family needs all the support they can get at this devastating time.

My name is Simone I am creating a GoFundMe page for Rachel George and her family. Rachel and Pepa have raised their children in George Town for over 23 years. A local family that has been a part of our community for many years, raising their children here and actively contributing to the community through their involvement at Neighbourhood House. Despite facing challenges and overcoming mistakes, the parents have raised their children well and have a strong, loving bond. However, the family is currently dealing with a difficult situation as the mother is battling stage 4 terminal cancer and has been without home for over four years. Mum had been to the doctors regularly as she new something was wrong, however was always told it was something else. One night the ambulance was called and mum was whisked away to hospital and subsequently told she had stage 4 terminal cancer. This was september 2023. This family hasnt had time to prepare or save for any special bonding time.

This family has a few specific wishes: they hope to take a special trip, secure a permanent home, and most importantly, see their mother's health improve. I aim to help make their situation a little better by launching this fundraising campaign. The funds raised will enable them to go on the trip ( inclusive of employing a support worker to help with mobility issues) purchase a suitable hospital bed for their mother, so she can go to motel accommodation. I would like to raise enough for the family to celebrate mums milestone birthday in November, mum has sid she will be holding on for her 50th.
