A genuine social experiment
Donation protected
Hello friends. I'll get right down to it.
I'm giving this a shot as there's no other way I'm going to get things done. It's multi-layered, so please bear with me.
The most important part for me is getting money to pay for all the private medical care I need. More about that later.
Now, I'm sick and tired of working myself to death with nothing to show for it. I'm sick of being taxed into poverty. Sick of seeing bad people (mostly the political class) live an easy life whilst I and everyone I know struggles.
I saw on social media that a guy made a crowdfund asking for £1 and it went viral. I am doing the same, but this one is a bit different. I'm going to index and catalogue all the information volunteered with each donation (obviously only information given at the time of the donation as a comment - as much or as little as the giver feels necessary). This would include - what type of people give, how much they give (remember, just £1 each would be amazing), their religion, their country, their gender, their political viewpoint etc. Also, I'd love to see how much I would get taxed/ charged by the powers that be who just love to keep a good man down.
There is no agenda behind this at all. It will just serve as an information gathering project. I am not attached to any political party, agency or department. The results would be purely for public interest and could be published as a graph on various social media posts (probably to try and shake up NHS management).
Now a bit more about me. I am 51 years old and I think I am nearing the end of my working life. Sadly I have many medical conditions, and the NHS has basically told me I'm not getting any help from them. My conditions read like a laundry list.
Starting from the bottom -
Plantar fascitis
Bilateral tendinosis
Sciatica
Two degenerated lumbar discs
A separate bulging disc
Impinged shoulders (still not accurately diagnosed)
Bilateral rheumatoid problem in both hands (still not accurately diagnosed)
Stage 2 hernia (the NHS told me they won't even refer me for surgery because I am already on the urgent list for my spine and shoulders).
I have been on the waiting list for actual treatment (an operation, rather than injections that do not work) for over 7 years now. As part of the experiment I must now conclude that the bean counters who run the NHS do not think I am worthy of treatment. I'm pretty sure given the current climate that I would not receive any benefits should I not be able to work, besides it not being in my character to even ask.
I'd use any money raised to pay for my private operations but they aren't cheap. The main procedures come to around £37,000, but more on top of that for the undiagnosed treatments.
Despite my ailments, I have only taken time off work when I have had operations (lumbar injections that did not work in 2024, and a gastronemeus release last Christmas). To give an indication of my personality, I have achieved 100% completion of my work every day for over 5 years, despite the constant pain. This is not fully due to my stoic attitude, moreso that I have so many pains, that sitting at home would just make me concentrate on the pain moreso, I would gain weight (making all the other problems worse), and I would not have any distractions.
I have already spent over £10,000 on private treatments and Doctor prescribed gadgets that are obviously scams to get the NHS to save money. These include chiropractors, osteopaths, hydrotherapy sessions, shockwave treatment, K-Laser treatment, various ridiculously expensive orthopaedic trainers, braces, harnesses, pain killers, prescribed vitamins etc.
All done with my money just so the NHS does not commit to actually fixing any of my problems.
I want to go private before there is nothing left to save.
I am just an average person. I'm no saint, but I always help people who need it - friends and strangers alike.
My main examples are my Christmas runs where I drive around SouthWest London on Christmas eve and give out sandwiches to any homeless people I see. I do not have any family to speak of, so I felt it was better to help others rather than feel sad at Christmas. I have been doing this for the last 9 years, only taking a break last year as I had a leg operation on the 23rd.
I'll probably update this with more information as I go, remember I'm only asking for £1 each (but you can donate more if you're rich!).
If you are kind enough to pledge, leave any information in the comments that you'd like me to catalogue (gender, age, employment, country, religion, political stance or anything else you'd like to see measure up against other donations). Obviously you don't have to, but it would be very interesting to see how all the information stacks up.
Finally, it might seem as though I hate the NHS. I do not. I simply hate the heartless management class that take all the money when it should go to the hardworking Doctors and nurses. The real heroes.
Thank you everyone. Let's see where this goes
