A Future Worth Fighting For: Brandon & Hannah Need Our Help

Donation protected

Brandon and Hannah Borden, only 20 and 19 respectively, are middle school sweethearts. Newly married, they should be planning for their future together, but instead Brandon is currently facing a fight for his life. After a terrifying medical emergency and the discovery of enlarged lymph nodes he is now facing a possible cancer diagnosis, and this precious young couple is running out of resources, options, and time.

My name is Jessica, and Hannah is my baby sister. After the recent tragic loss of my own husband Hannah and Brandon dropped everything to be there for me. They went above and beyond in every way, because that's the kind of people they are. They would *never* ask for a handout, so I now come before you humbly to ask our community to come together to help them in their greatest time of need.

On May 5th, after 2 years of mysterious symptoms and several unsuccessful trips to small local ER's and Dr's, Brandon got a horrific nosebleed that would not stop. After running blood work it was discovered that his platelet count, which should be around 200,000, was under 20,000, and he was admitted to the hospital immediately. After several days and a terrible experience at this small hospital they thankfully made the choice to leave and go to UAB.

Once there, they immediately admitted him and sent him for a full CT scan where they found enlarged lymph nodes. They need to perform a biopsy but due to his low platelet count and the location of the spots to be biopsied are making this procedure almost impossible. His medical team is working hard to find a solution. Despite not being able to do the biopsy yet, through other tests along with his symptoms the doctors are concerned this could be some form of cancer and have transferred him to the oncology floor. Of course, without more testing, there's simply no way to know.

Due to this medical emergency they are unable to work at the moment, nor do they know when (or if) they will be able to work in the future as Brandon is a manual laborer. They are both terrified, and Hannah hasn't left his side for a single moment. They have quickly been drained of resources and face the very real and scary possibility of losing everything while trying to navigate the worst time of their lives. They also face a potential future of ever mounting medical bills should they need to seek life saving medical treatment.

I humbly beg that we come together as a community to provide at least some temporary financial relief so they can continue to pay their bills as well as afford the food, travel, and necessities that come with a possible long-term stay in the hospital. The last thing they should have to worry about right now is money.

Anything that you are able to give will help no matter how small, and every donation will be deeply and truly appreciated. Let us come together and show this truly wonderful young couple that they are loved, and that our community is ready and willing to stand by them throughout this terribly difficult journey. We also ask for your prayers, for healing, for peace, for generosity, and for a miracle that we know our God is capable of.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to reach out.

And to all who donate and pray, from the bottom of my heart, Thank you.
