A Future OBGYN Stay at Spelman to Promote Maternal Health

Donation protected
My name is Alexys Brown, and I’m a rising junior at Spelman College, majoring in Biology with a calling to become an OB/GYN focused on addressing the Black maternal health crisis.

My dream is not only to become a doctor, but to open a nonprofit clinic that offers safe, compassionate, and culturally competent care to Black women and birthing people in underserved communities. I’m deeply committed to fighting the alarming disparities that cause Black mothers to face significantly higher risks during pregnancy and childbirth.

But now, my education is at risk.

Due to recent federal changes in Pell Grant eligibility and limited emergency aid at Spelman, I’m facing a financial shortfall of $50,000 — the cost of tuition, housing, and relocation for my junior year. I’ve exhausted loans, aid options, and I’m currently applying for jobs in Atlanta. But I can’t do this alone.

I’m humbly asking for your support to help me stay in school and stay on track toward becoming the physician and community advocate I know I’m meant to be.

If you believe in the power of education, in health equity, or simply in helping someone who’s working relentlessly toward a purpose — please consider donating or sharing.

Thank you for investing in my future — and in the future of those I hope to serve.

With sincere gratitude,
Alexys Brown
